About our Native American designers:
Hopi Indian Jewelry:
Hopi Indian jewelry and cuff bracelets are
usually all sterling silver and created with an
overlay technique. This technique begins by
using a jeweler's handsaw to cut a design into a
sheet of sterling silver. The cut-out is then
soldered to a second like-sized sheet, creating
a recessed silver background which is then
oxidized to enhance the contrast between the two
layers.
Zuni Indian Jewelry:
Zuni Indian jewelry artists create beautiful
cuff bracelets and bangle bracelets with their
well-known channel inlay technique. With this
technique, the turquoise jewelry, coral, shell
and other fine gemstones are inlaid into complex
channels of sterling silver over a sterling
silver cuff.
Navajo Indian Jewelry:
Navajo Indian artists are most often known for
their turquoise jewelry and extraordinary use of
coral, amethyst, lapis, spiny oyster and many
brilliant gemstones which are polished and set
in sterling silver. They are also known for
their sterling silver stamping techniques.
